The League Committee have subsequently and the following decisions have been made with regard to the 2020/21 season.
KGLFL League Cup (Under 12 to Under 18)
This competition has been cancelled for all age groups and outstanding fixtures will be removed.
KGLFL League matches
If and when we are allowed to return to football (hopefully from mid-February) we will look at the following arrangements (below).
As it seems likely that we would come out of Lockdown and back into the Tier system, we must take into account that there is still a strong possibility that we will be restricted on travel for games even if Grassroots football is allowed to start again. As a County wide League we must take this into account.
Under 8 Festivals and Friendlies
Development game Fixtures will be set between local Clubs from March and Festivals arranged at the end of the season (if permitted).
Under 9 - Under 11 Fixtures
New competitive shield groups will be cast from the 24th February, but restricted to groups of local teams.
Under 12 to Under 18 Divisions
We have a large number of teams in some of these age groups and it is clear that it will be very difficult to finish some divisions this season, even with double headers. We therefore intend to cancel the existing divisions and replace them with smaller local based divisions of 5 or 6 teams. This will allow for competitive football through to the end of the season.
However, if it looks like there will be a quick change from Lockdown to Tier 2 from Mid-February then we will review the possibility of retaining some of the existing smaller divisions. We will keep this under constant review and try and give Clubs as much notice of fixtures as possible, but as we all know, the situation can change very quickly and games maybe cast at short notice.
We will be back in touch again around the 20th of January when we will hopefully have a better idea of how successful the Lockdown is proving to be. Whatever the outcome, we will look to provide as much football as we can for our Clubs within the restrictions placed upon us all.
