Sunday 7th February 2016
SSE Woman’s FA Cup – 3rd round

33 Castle Colts Girls had a great day out on Feb 7th. Invited by Jel Parsons, Charlton Athletic WFC 1st team manager. The girls were given the opportunity to be Mascots for Charlton, as they took on Newcastle Utd WFC, in the 3rd round of the SSE Woman’s FA Cup.

The week before the game we balloted 14 Girls from U9’s – U12’s to be Charlton’s Mascots. This was kept secret from them until Match Day. The girls were so excited and couldn’t wait to find out who the lucky 14 mascots would be. After a long wait the girls found out that all of them where going to be mascots as Newcastle United WFC said yes to having mascots as well. The girls were ecstatic.

The girls were made to feel very welcome and special before walking out from the tunnel to the pitch.

Charlton Athletic Women are great role models for our girls. Being able to sit and watch the two teams battle it out, listening to the girls questions about what they were watching was great. It was the first experience for most of our younger girls, it was great to show them what hard work and determination can achieve.

Charlton Athletic WFC run out convincing winners 10-0

We would like thank Sue who looked after us on the day. Also Jel Parson’s and all his players for spending so much time with the girls after the game. It was much appreciated and something the girls will treasure forever.
